MailVault Views. Your email, organized your way.

MailVault v4.3.8 is available.

MailVault’s powerful search let’s you find the email you are searching for, fast! And Saved searches allow the user to re-run complex queries, on demand, with a single click.

And still, some of our users want the familiarity of being able to organize their email into good, old folders. We hear you. And we’ll give you folders. And more.

Introducing Views!

MailVault Views are smart, dynamic and alive. They are time-saving mechanisms, designed to let you get more done in less time. Views currently contain folders and saved searches, with more to come.

Folders consist of system folders (by default All, Inbox, Sent) with the possibility for users to create and manage their own custom folders. Similarly, users can create and save searches for easy and regular access. Both folders and searches return dynamic and updated results.

This release also adds a set of convenience filters on the Search results page (All mail, Incoming, Outgoing) which can be applied to any result set. Arrow icons along each result line indicate incoming or outgoing mail.

The G Suite and G Suite Turbo mail sources now support delete mail after x days functionality.

Other minor fixes and enhancements round off this release.

Your email. Backed up in your own cloud storage account.

MailVault v4.3.3 is available.

We said we’d have interesting things happening in the v4.3.x series…

This release contains:

  • SkyStore now allows you to use your own cloud storage accounts
  • MailVault is available in German language too
  • Other minor fixes and enhancements

MailVault’s SkyStore functionality allows you to save an additional copy of your email in the cloud. You could use our fully managed service, or simply use your own cloud storage accounts. MailVault supports AWS, Azure and other services.

Why use cloud backup? Cloud storage technologies are designed to store data securely for the long-term and make for reliable backups that can scale almost infinitely.

MailVault’s cloud email backup features goes a long way towards making your email archiving substantially disaster proof, without having to incur the upfront expenses of hardware, worry about routine maintenance, and the overheads of additional administration.

With access control rules, retention and ageing policies, an organization can have safe and flexible storage policies.

Meanwhile, to our friends in Deutschland, we’d like to say: Hallo und Guten Tag… 🙂

Core updates, simpler Active Directory, Password policies and more…

MailVault v4.2.40 is available.

This release contains:

  • Core packages and libraries updated
  • Active Directory & LDAP usage simplified (for user import and authentication)
  • Password policy functionality added
  • Optional size limits for indexing message body and attachment data
  • JVM configuration via the Settings UI
  • Cloud storage enhancements
  • Faster startup after an abrupt shutdown
  • Minor fixes and enhancements

The latest release has updates to it’s core packages and libraries (downloaded automatically via an intermediate update v4.2.38).

Active Directory and LDAP usage functionality has been simplified dramatically making it much easier for administrators to integrate MailVault with their company authentication and directory services.

Those of you who needed to explicitly layout a password policy, can now do so.

Mail volume and mail sizes continue to increase. Large attachments not only increase data transfer, but also use up indexing compute power (and increase index sizes). Often indexing the entire attachment is not necessary. Admins can now set a limit (if required) on the amount of data MailVault should index from mail attachments.

Sometimes we may need to change the Java Virtual Machine’s (JVM) default memory settings – this can now be done conveniently from the Settings UI itself.

MailVault tries to automatically recover from errors that may occur. Abrupt (non-graceful) shutdowns may leave the indexes in an inconsistent state. If the index size is large, the recovery process takes time, thus slowing down the MailVault startup – this has now been refactored to allow for a much faster startup after an abrupt shutdown, thus letting you get to work at the earliest.

MailVault supports Single-Sign-On for Office 365

MailVault v4.2.35 is available.

This release contains:

  • Single-Sign-On support for Office 365
  • Enhanced auto-recovery in case of configuration corruption
  • Other minor fixes and enhancements

Organizations using MailVault to backup and archive email from Office 365, can now allow their users to single-sign-on by authentication against O365. And user management is made simpler by allowing MailVault to directly import users from O365.

Power failures, disk crashes and even user-errors can sometimes cause file corruption. When configuration files get corrupted, they affect the running of the software. In such cases, MailVault auto-recovers to older, working configurations. This release enhances the auto-recovery process to give you an even more robust working environment.
