MailVault v5.2.1 released

MailVault v5.2.1 is available.

Hi folks, this was a little earlier than we expected.

It appears that while updating to v5.2.0 some GWS users may face a temporary configuration issue, which could be manually corrected. This release fixes that and we do apologize for any inconvenience caused.

You can read more about the v5.2.0 release here.

An important note for our users:

  • We’ve extended support for 32-bit systems to the v5.2.x series.
  • However, we strongly recommend that users deploy MailVault on 64-bit systems.

You can manually upgrade your MailVault installation by going to:

Settings > Core > Auto updates and click on Check for updates

Then simply follow the on-screen instructions.

MailVault v5.2 released (with multiple goodies!)

MailVault v5.2.0 is available.

This release contains multiple assorted goodies:

  • Support for Google Workspace IMAP and SMTP over OAuth 2.0
  • Support for Microsoft 365 IMAP and SMTP over OAuth 2.0
  • Remote authentication and user import endpoints now available separately in Settings
  • The Quickstart UI is now simpler and quicker
  • Improved resource utilization for some internal services
  • Significant speed up in Cloud Storage
  • Enhancements in audit and logging
  • Optionally restrict the reuse of previous passwords
  • Fixes for a couple of cloud storage providers
  • Fixes for bulk user import from CSV, LDAP and M365
  • Other minor fixes and enhancements

Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 no longer allow ‘simple’ authentication for IMAP or SMTP access. Well, no fear, we’ve added OAuth 2.0 support for these functionalities.

Usability improvements include the following: Remote-authentication and user-import endpoints now have their own independent little spaces in Settings. Besides the flexibility, this makes things clearer and easier to use. Additionally, the Quickstart UI has gotten even simpler, so you can get started really quick!

Some internal services have been fine-tuned, so we can now do more, with less. Some external services like Cloud Storage have gotten a significant overhaul, so if you have the bandwidth, you could see a serious speed up.

From a security policy point of view, organizations can now optionally restrict the reuse of previous passwords.

An important note for our users:

  • However, we strongly recommend that users deploy MailVault on 64-bit systems.

Filter between Active and Suspended users (GWS & M365); optionally disable older versions of TLS and other stuff

MailVault v5.0.6 is available.

This release contains:

  • Segregate between active and suspended users for Google Workspace & Microsoft 365
  • Email accounts in GWS and M365 mail sources made much more responsive
  • Ability to disable older versions of TLS, to enforce greater security
  • Improved validation for SSL certificates
  • Internal enhancements in the cloud storage sub-system
  • Other minor fixes and enhancements

For companies using Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, the ability to filter between active and suspended users makes it convenient to segregate users as needed. Additionally, we have enhanced the email account management in the GWS and M365 mail sources, so even if you are working with thousands of users, MailVault will offer you an extremely responsive user experience.

For maximum operability, MailVault supports multiple versions of the Transport Layer Security protocol. However, some of our customers have security policies that prohibit the use of older versions of TLS. With this release, the admin can turn-off older versions of TLS if needed, thus enhancing security.

When SSL certificates are used with MailVault, the validation process is now friendlier and easier.

The cloud storage sub-system has some internal working improvements.

A few other minor fixes and enhancements complete this release.

You can manually upgrade your MailVault installation by going to:

  • Support for two-factor authentication (2FA)
  • Enhanced the workflow for remote authentication
  • Enhanced the workflow for bulk-user import
  • Improved responsiveness of the web UI
  • Other minor fixes and enhancements

2FA adds an additional layer of security to MailVault users and can be used with both static, as well as remote authentication (SSO).

MailVault now allows the admin to centrally create remote authentication and user import endpoints, which can then be utilized as needed. Simpler and more convenient.

Work has also been done to improve the responsiveness of the web UI in response to user actions; in general, users should experience snappier performance while using MailVault.

MailVault v5 is here!

MailVault v5.0.0 is available.

An upgraded technology layer, new Email Plus functionality and dedicated support for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace!

This release contains:

  • Email Plus functionality (also backups files, calendars and contacts)
  • Dedicated mail source for Microsoft 365 (email, drive, calendars, contacts)
  • Dedicated mail source for Google Workspace (email, drive, calendars, contacts)
  • Technology stack and core libraries updated
  • Minor fixes, enhancements and optimizations

With the new Email Plus functionality, MailVault can now also backup documents, calendars and contacts.

While MailVault has always supported backing up email from Microsoft and Google, v5 offers dedicated support for both these platforms. Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace are now available as dedicated mail and data sources, where you can optionally choose the additional data that you may want backed up for specific, or for all users.

Other minor fixes, enhancements and optimizations make the functioning of MailVault better than earlier. Also the UI has been modified slightly, to allow the more relevant information to be in focus, and for a generally lighter and more pleasing look.

The upgraded technology stack improves performance and sets the stage for more functionality in future versions.

Note for existing v4.x.x users:

Version 5 is a major release. While new users can start using v5 right away, existing users of pre-v5 installations will need to follow a few steps to upgrade and derive the benefits of v5. Detailed information about this has been emailed to existing users. We strongly recommend you go through that before initiating the update. In case you need any technical clarifications or assistance, please get in touch with our Support team.

We hope you enjoy MailVault v5.

As usual, we’d love your feedback and suggestions.
